Your body carries you through every part of life, treat it with the same care you give everyone else.
A little movement each day isn’t just exercise, it’s how you stay strong, supported, and truly feel good in your own skin.
I was reminded of this truth on my holiday this summer.
Normally, I’m active every week with running, Pilates, yoga, and karate. I enjoy variety and know how important it is for functional movement. The body loves different challenges, and variation is the best way to keep all systems balanced and strong.
On holidays, I usually choose completely different activities for the same reason: to move in ways I don’t normally do. But this time, something unexpected happened.
I brought along a fantastic book on daily movement and exercises, and while reading, one simple exercise caught my eye. It focused on hip mobility, specifically internal rotation stretching and external rotation using the deep hip rotators. The movement is done in standing or lying, gently opening and closing the hip without overusing the quadriceps (thigh muscles).
When I tried it for the first time, I was shocked. One hip was so much stiffer than the other. I hadn’t noticed it in my usual workouts because I was compensating without even realising.
So I decided to do this one exercise every day for the rest of the holiday. It only took a few minutes, but the difference has been incredible. Over the past weeks, I’ve felt more comfortable sitting, walking, and even just standing still. My hips feel more balanced and free.
It really showed me that it’s not about how much you do, it’s about what you do.
When you find the movement or exercise your body truly needs, it saves time, improves your comfort in daily life, and brings a deeper balance to your whole system. That’s what functional movement is all about.
This is exactly the philosophy behind FysioPilates by Astrid. I want to help you find those small but powerful exercises that make the biggest difference. Because it’s not about working harder, it’s about working smarter, with movement that makes sense for your body.
So if something feels stiff, achy, or just "off" in your body, don’t ignore it.
Sometimes, one simple exercise done consistently is all it takes to change how you move and feel every day.
